Whatever I Feel Friday: My travel makeup bag

Hello my beauties! As you are reading this I am currently on the other side of the country dealing with some family matters. I hope you have had a wonderful week so far. For today’s post, I wanted to share with you what goes into my travel makeup bag(s) and what hair and skincare bits I took with me on my very short trip.

I tried to pack as light as possible for two and a half days of travel as well as having makeup that will go through the TSA screening process. I have no actual liquids in this bag- gels and creams, a few, but liquids none. This way I can take my makeup on the plane with me and do it so when we land we can head straight to the funeral home. I’m going to be trying out a new palette and I am so excited because I’ve never had a Tarte palette. Let me break it all down.

For my primer I’m using a mini size of my Cover FX Blurring primer that I got at IMATS LA 2019. For my foundation I’ve got the Revlon Colorstay Full Coverage foundation but I keep toying with the idea of trading it out for my Revolution Fast Base foundation stick. I still have a little time to decide. For my facial concealer I’m bringing the LA Girl Pro Conceal in Porcelain and for under my eyes my trusty Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser in Fair. The powder I chose for baking got a bit cut off but it is the Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Setting Powder and for my whole face I chose my Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder in 003 Natural. Since I was in college this has been one of the best oil controlling powders I own. I know a lot of people like it and I’m on that bandwagon, too.

For my contour and bronzer I’m going to be using a mini size of the famous Benefit Hoola. For my highlighter I didn’t want to risk taking any powder products for fear they would get shattered so I picked out my Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Highlighter in ‘Stole the Show’. It can be subtle or built up so it can work for many different occasions. The blush I picked was a part of last year’s Ulta Birthday gift for June, a mini NARS Orgasm. Perfect size to travel and I trust the packaging.

For my brows I am taking my Anastasia of Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil in ‘Blonde’ and my Essence Lash and Brow Gel Mascara (clear). The eyeliner I’m taking is a free mini I got from Ulta with a qualifying Maybelline purchase. I’ve never used it before but I’ve heard good things. It is the Maybelline Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil in 601 ‘Sleek Onyx’. It has a nice glidey feel so hopefully it will work well. For my eye primer I’m bringing my trusty NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 604 ‘Milk’. I am bringing two single shadows with me, a MAC frost shadow in ‘Jest’ for my brow bone and inner corner and Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in ‘Lovely’ just in case I’m in a rush and need color quick.

I’m bringing two of my smallest eyeshadow palettes that also happen to still be pretty new to me. I’m so excited to be trying the Tarte ‘Dream Big’ Amazonian Clay Palette, it’s got a lot of shimmer and only two mattes which is why I am also bringing The Balm’s ‘Meet Matt(e) Shmaker’ palette because it has six mattes perfect for crease and defining. They both fit into the palm of my hand and that was a bit one for me. I also didn’t want to risk other palettes that I would have liked but are super soft and would break at any turbulence.

I chose three lip products for this trip which, for me, is one heck of an accomplishment. I am putting the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in 075 ‘Lollipop’ in my carry on along with my Lipstick Queen ‘Good Catch’. In my purse where it is easier to access while traveling I am putting my Colourpop ‘Moon Child’ lipgloss. It’s a nice neutral color with the perfect amount of shimmer and can be applied without a mirror.

I lucked out and happened to have two travel size mascaras on hand. I’m bringing both Too Faced ‘Better Than Sex’ Waterproof mascara and the newer Ciate London Wonderwand mascara in ‘Black Magic’. I’m bringing two because the Too Faced one is on its last legs and with my luck it would become absolutely useless the same day we touch down.

I had kept the mini bottle of my Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray and I just refilled it with my larger bottle. Luckily, this is small enough to go in my carry on in my liquids bag.

That’s it for all of the makeup I’m taking but if you’re curious like me you would want to know what brushes and what skincare and hair care I also packed. I took pictures of all of it so you can visually see what I put into my grooming kit and brush bag.

My face brushes are a mishmash of Eve Pearl and unknown brand
My eyebrushes are a mixture of mini Sigma brushes, Crown brushes, ELF, BH Cosmetics, and unknown
I’ve got dry shampoo plus LUSH shampoo and conditioner bars (LOVE) , texture spray, sculpting paste, a brush, and a comb.
For my skin care, I did my best to copy what I normally do. So an oil cleanser, normal wash, scrub, day lotion and night lotion, argan oil and Maracuja oil (matching containers), Tarte eye creme mini, facial spray, serum, and toner. Oh, and lotion.
For makeup remover I’ve got my Makeup Eraser (original), cotton pads soaked in my Garnier Waterproof Micellar makeup remover. I also picked two perfumes, the Princess Rollerball (which is part of my Rocky Horror Panning Show project pan) and a rollerball I’ve had for what feels like forever- ‘BCBG Max Azria”

That’s all she wrote, folks! I had fun writing this post so I hope you liked it too. What are your necessities to bring on your trip? I’d love to hear some about you! I’ll be seeing you tomorrow for my weekly favorites. XO

Be Bold, Be Beautiful, Be YOU!!  Because you is the most beautiful you there is.
