Hello my beauties and happy new year to you! I figured I would start the year off with a post about my most favorite pieces from this past year. I’m going to try to go in the order as to how I apply my makeup. I love doing favorites posts and reading them, so feel free to share what you loved down below too! Many of these products may not be brand new to the market but they are most likely new to me and I wanted to share them as well. I will do my best to link to everything in this post so if you’re interested in any piece you can find it easily. None of the links are affiliate links so I make nothing if you buy from them, I just add them for your convenience.

Let’s start with the base, shall we? The primer that is on the top of my list is the Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer. I don’t know what the Tatcha primer is like but I would imagine that this is similar. I like to use this especially on my forehead, T-zone, and my cheek area because that is where my pores are the largest. I like that you only need a tiny amount to get good results. The other primer I really loved this past year is the Becca Backlight Priming Filter. I have combination skin so I like to use this on the days when my skin needs an extra boost to look good. It smooths over my skin and gives it that subtle lit within glow without looking greasy or oily. The product itself doesn’t feel oily either which is a big bonus. For foundation, I’ve really loved using the Colourpop No Filter Matte foundation. This gives good medium coverage and lives up to the hype from when it first was released. It is creamy and the shade range is amazing! I’ve been recommending this to friends all year because of how much I love it. The concealer I love is the Conceal and Define full coverage Concealer from Makeup Revolution. This concealer has such a good shade range it’s not even funny! I found the perfect shade for under my eyes and for my face without any problems. This is possibly my favorite concealer of all time, and that’s saying something. If you haven’t tried it I would suggest going and trying this holy grail of a product! My favorite powder this year is nothing new and it’s a holy grail, the Rimmel Stay Matte powder. I have it in 003 Natural right now but I prefer the Translucent one. This is something everyone should have in their makeup bag. It’s perfect for setting the undereye as well as setting the whole face. It doesn’t make your face look cakey and helps to keep your oil at bay.

I’ve been loving two blushers especially this year, the Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in ‘Dazzled’ is one and the Colourpop Blush Stix in ‘More is More’ is the other. The Tarte blush is a good everyday staple for me and the Colourpop Blush Stix came at me out of left field. I can’t tell you why I purchased it because I don’t usually use stick type blushers but I LOVE this one! If I’m careful, I can even apply it over foundation. This year I started using bronzer on a daily basis and I decided to give the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Bronzer a try. I now understand why people love it so much! I have the second lightest shade and it’s perfect on me. I can build it up or leave it light, perfect for anything! For the highlighter, I’ve been infatuated with the Maybelline x NikkieTutorials highlighter and I’ve also been loving the Colourpop Lite Stix in Urth. I’m glad I bought backups to the NikkieTutorials highlighter because I can’t seem to find it anymore. I would say it is a dupe for The Balm’s Mary Lou-Manizer but I just love how beautiful this highlighter is on my fair skin. Then the Colourpop Lite Stix. Oh my was I pleasantly surprised! Again it was something I don’t know why I ordered because I didn’t like cream products but just like the blush, I fell in love! I love highlighter and these are two of my all-time favorites from this year.

These are the last two highlighters and blushes I have adored this year. The first is the Marc Jacobs O!Mega Glaze in 80 Wo!rth the Wait and the second is the cream blush in the shade Blush from the Natasha Denona Bloom palette. Now, I know both of these are definitely on the pricier side but they are so worth it. I mean look at the Marc Jacobs highlighter! I’ve never dipped a product so much ever! It is gorgeous on fair skin, not glittery (which I can go either way with glitter), and is buildable. You can look lit from within or you can be like BAM! look at my highlight. I’ve loved using it, obviously. Now when I got the Natasha Denona Bloom palette I thought the Glow cream blush would be my thing but I was so pleased to find that I loved the Blush side better! I know it looks scary but if you use a light hand with fair skin, it can look so stunning! I use a Beauty Blender to apply the Blush and it diffuses out to a nice natural flush and you can still see it beautifully under translucent powder which is always my concern when using cream products before powder.

There are three palettes I have adored this year: Colourpop Perception palette, Urban Decay Naked Cherry palette, and the Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Soft Glam’ palette. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find the Perception palette on the Colourpop site anymore but you can always get single shadows that are similar. I love the color story of this palette, you’ve got your neutrals and you’ve got your pops of color. I especially love the green and the color right below it. It’s a really fun palette to play with and the quality of the Colourpop pressed shadows are wonderful. I get very little fallout, even with the more glittery shades. Next is the Naked Cherry palette. I love the Urban Decay Naked palettes so when I saw them come out with this I jumped on it. I love warm tones and I loved how the colors looked when swatched. When I purchased it and finally got to play with it, I was so surprised as to how soft the shadows were. There is a bit of fallout but nothing that’s going to deter me from using the palette. The colors blend beautifully and are highly pigmented and vibrant. I would definitely check it out if you’re on the hunt for a new palette. Finally, the Anastasia of Beverly Hills ‘Soft Glam’ palette. This was my first ABH palette. I didn’t know what to expect because I ordered online so I was shocked by the color payoff! It is absolutely stunning, I only needed the tiniest amount to do my whole eye. The colors blend effortlessly and I can’t wait to try her other palettes.

For my brows, I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in Taupe. As you can tell from the dip in the product, I really love this powder. I can fill my brows in nicely with it and then give it a bit of definition. I use an angled brush and it all works great. On days when I don’t want to bother with a palette, the two shadows I’ve reached for the most this year is the Urban Decay ‘Midnight Cowboy’ single and the Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Lovely. The Super Shock shadow is super easy. All I use is my finger to press some of it on to my eyelid and then I’m good to go. The Midnight Cowboy shadow is similar, except I use a brush. I love both of them because they’re neutral and shimmery/glittery. They help to make you look put together without too much effort. The eyeliner I have been loving the most is the Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in ‘Exit‘. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would love a white eyeliner but I love this one! I use it on my lower waterline and it really makes my eyes pop when I wear it. I’ve never tried it on the top lash line but that is okay with me, I love it on the lower lash line the best anyway.

If you’ve been around for a bit you’ll know I love highlighters and lip products, so these are my favorites from this year. My favorites this year have been the Neutrogena Hydro Boost in Vibrant Raspberry, Huda Beauty Demi Matte liquid lipstick in Bonnie, MAC Lustre lipstick in Patisserie, and Marc Jacobs Le Marc lipstick in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. The Neutrogena lipgloss has become a staple in my purse. It is super hydrating and comfortable. It’s a little heavy and sticky but nothing so bad that it would make me stop wearing it. Now for the Huda Demi Matte. I never thought I could love a liquid lipstick as much as I love this. It’s light and easy to wear without the harsh drying effects of many other liquid lipsticks. I love the color I chose, it’s a good ‘my lips but better’ lip color. I love MAC lipsticks, and this one is no different. Patisserie is a great nudie pink with a bit of glimmer/glitter. It makes my lips look healthy and full with a bit of shimmer to accentuate your lips natural beauty. Finally the Marc Jacobs lipstick, I received this as a point perk some time ago and I actually loved it so much that I purchased the full size this year. It’s the perfect color for me and the rounded bullet makes it so much easier to apply since I’m not worried about going outside my lip line.

Last but not least, face mists and mascaras. First, mascaras. I received the Wander Beauty Mile High Club mascara. I received this in a subscription box and it has quickly become one of my most reached for mascaras. The brush is long and narrow with natural bristles and it makes my lashes look so long and so gorgeous that I can’t put it down. The mascara is water resistant which helps it not to flake or smudge throughout the day which is a big bonus in my book. The other mascara I’ve been loving is the Colourpop Volumizing Bff Mascara in Black on Black. Holy moly is this mascara volumizing! It sort of reminds me of the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara by the shape of the wand and bristles. Besides making my lashes look voluminous it also gives them a lift and really makes them stand out. Now for face mist. I never thought I would say this but, I love a Pixi Beauty product! I’ve tried their products time and again and I’ve never liked them until this product came around. I’m talking about the Pixi Beauty Glow Mist. I started misting my face with a face mist to help melt my makeup into my face thanks to Allie Glines. I’ve found that doing this really helps my makeup to last and to not look cakey. At first I was wary of this mist due to the oil in it but I have been proven wrong. I love how this mist makes my face and makeup look, so fresh and so dewy- but not too dewy!
